Coconut Lentil Dal

Difficulté : Easy
Catégorie : Savory
Cout : Low cost
Here is a quick and easy recipe for a coral lentil dal with coconut milk and spices. You can obtain the consistency you prefer: more or less creamy, more or less liquid. In thirty minutes,  the whole thing is done. Coconut softens the spices (spices don’t have to be spicy). You can find everything in the supermarkets near you without any problem! Then, hop! Everyone in the kitchen!

Lentil Dal recipe for 4 people:

-250g of “coral” lentils
-2 tablespoons of oil
-2 tomatoes
-1 onion
-1 or 2 crushed garlic cloves
-2 tablespoons of oil
-20cl of coconut cream
-1 tablespoon turmeric powder
-1 cinnamon stick
-1 teaspoon ginger powder
-1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
-1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
-1/4 teaspoon sweet paprika
-1 pinch of chili powder (after that, it’s up to you)
-30g of grated dried coconut
-salt pepper

Bring a large quantity of salted water to a boil and cook the lentils for 20 minutes.

The lenses will come out, that’s normal!

Peel the tomatoes and cut them into pieces, as well as the onion.

When the lentils are cooked, let them drain.

Put the oil in a saucepan over fairly high heat, add the crushed garlic, tomatoes and onion.

When the tomatoes melt a little, add a little water to prevent the bottom from burning and then add the spices: ginger, cumin powder the stick of cinnamon …

Chilli, turmeric, cumin powder, paprika.

Add the lentils and mix well.

Add the coconut milk.

Also add salt, pepper and grated coconut.

It’s ready! Just let it cook until the desired consistency: smoother or more liquid (just add water).

Serve immediately!
